Pics from our Visit to WA-M and rescue of Jerry our mascot, July 3, 2010.
First stop, Indian John Hill Rest Area, eastbound I-90

As we are heading into Ellensburg, the general opinion of all was that we take Canyon Rd into the Yakima Valley. It was an excellent idea. The following is just a taste of what we had to endure on this austere route:

Sam, Kenny, and Tug meet us at the Branding Iron restaurant, Toppenish.

A sea of RED seems to have been bestowed upon WA-M today. We pretty much maxed out their seating

It looks like the Santa Clause table is well represented. Santa and Santa-in-training are here today.

Dave and Meredith are already inside waiting for us and were saving a place for us to sit.

Jerry in captivity. As you can see, they took good care of him. He has an ice cream cone and some bananas.

Our return route was over Hwy 12 to Hwy 410 Chinook Pass. Last October a massive landslide buried a quarter-mile section of the roadway Sunday morning October 11th shoving broken chunks of pavement into the Naches River and changing its course. The road was closed to through traffic because it was buried under a mountain of debris from the slide. The DOT did an excellent job of setting up an alternate route using existing roads that were previously unimproved and/or lightly traveled. This is the route we followed.

Jerry safely and comfortably seated on ST's trike on this side of the mountains at Mud Mountain Dam recreaction area. He looks so happy and care free.

All total, we had 13 Gold Wings and 17 Chapter WA-A Participants (Sam, Kenny, Tug, Ranks, Dave & Meredith, Mike & Pen, Todd, Bill, Andy, Gary & JoAnn, John, Kevin, ST and Don) visiting WA-M to rescue Jerry and bring him home where he belongs. That is very impressive considering such an early departure from this side of the mountains, (5:45 am) on a Saturday Morning.
Great Job chapter A.
